When I first started teaching young people in Vacation Bible school and other gatherings where children could sing and learn the Scriptures, we taught a little song that has always stayed with me through the years. It was O-B-E-D-I-E-N-C-E and it taught that obedience is the very best way to show that we believe. I think Paul would have enjoyed and probably have sung that song in some of his teaching times.

In the beginning of the year 1977, I made a decision to become a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ. At the moment I bowed my knees and asked repentance of the sins that I had committed, I received Christ as my Savior. With that act of obedience, I died to one life and began a new life. It was at this time I surrendered authority of my life to a new king and ruler.

As I was growing up, I was constantly compared to my brothers. Having five brothers made the comparisons come often as I had to live up to my older brothers and be an example to the younger ones. Whether it was sports, hunting or cars, we were either associated with or contrasted to one another.

Fall is a wonderful time of the year as the fields ripen and the harvest comes into the marketplace. Driving through the country roads, past fields, orchards, and vineyards can bring a sense contentment. The hard work of summer is past, and the smells, tastes, and fruitfulness of harvest is upon us.

A promise is a wonderful gift to receive especially when the one making the promise has the means to fulfill it. Parents often will guarantee something that later they regret as circumstance changes or perhaps the store is sold out of an item or some other unseen issue arises.

Knowing someone who has authority or ability to make tickets or passes available allows you to confidently step to the front of the line and be allowed into the event. That person of influence or power entitles you to a privilege not otherwise available!

I found a quote one time that stated, “The most dangerous Christian is one who has one year of Bible training.” While that may not be true in all situations, it can be true where believers think they know more than they really do!

There are many opinions when it comes to people who are different than the majority. When someone enters our group who is struggling with mental, physical disabilities, infected with a terminal illness or a very contagious disease, how do we respond?

When I was a child, the thing that perhaps frightened me the most was when my father was angry. While he was a loving man, he also was capable of disciplining when we became disobedient.

On Sunday evenings I have begun a new study, “What is a Biblical Worldview?” Often, we do not realize we are employing other views into belief system. We are confronted with the question if we as Christians truly have a godly worldview and if we do, are we living it out to others?
