October 25, 2021 - Romans 10:1-13

On October 31st, we will be hosting an evangelist at the church and our prayer is that the message of Jesus Christ is proclaimed clearly and accurately so that individuals can receive Christ as their Savior. Kenny Evans has sung and preached the message of Jesus Christ around the country and is well known in the Nashville and Gatlinburg areas of Tennessee.

Paul desired for all people to come to faith in Christ and to be saved. Many of the Jews believed they were in a right relationship with God. Their belief was based on a zeal and understanding of heritage and misunderstanding of righteousness from God. Paul’s desire was to help his people to understand and come to a true faith in Jesus Christ.

Many in the nation of Israel had become blinded to the plan that God had revealed to them. They were to be the spokesmen and proclaimers of God’s love and salvation. Instead, they were idolaters and unbelievers of the righteousness of God and Israel had rejected the standard of a right relationship that came through faith in Christ’s finished work.

Paul states emphatically that Christ had ended the law (v.4) and that the word of faith was near to those who believed. If they would confess with their mouth and believe in their heart the reality of God’s work of resurrecting Christ from the dead, salvation was theirs! The word of faith which the individual proclaimed brought a right standing and the removal of shame caused by sin. Paul’s proclamation was direct and he made it clear that salvation was available to both Jew and Gentile. “Whosoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved” (v.13).

Like Paul, I would urge you to consider the claims made in this portion of Romans and consider the opportunity God has given to every individual to receive the gift of eternal life that is offered through belief in the Lord Jesus Christ. If you know Him already then share this good news with others so that they may know of the offered gift of eternal life. This Sunday is a great opportunity to invite those unsaved neighbors, friends and family to hear the clear testimony of one saved by grace.
