October 26, 2021 - Romans 10:14-21
I am so grateful for devoted teachers that spend faithful moments in the classroom around students continually teaching truths that will equip them throughout their lives. It is especially true of believers that dedicate their lives to teaching the message of Christ to the ends of the earth.
Paul extols individuals to proclaim the message that everyone needs and must have for this eternal life that is offered. How will people know the truth unless someone goes and shares that truth? How will faith come to the faithless unless a messenger is obedient and proclaims the good news of the Word of God.
Paul’s message was that, particularly, the people of Israel and, in general, the people of the world needed individuals to share the truth of Jesus Christ. This is what a teacher, parent, grandparent does daily to educate and prepare younger people to face their world. They share with them the truths they had learned and educate the next generation so they can be prepared.
Paul’s concern was that Israel was not listening to the teaching of God’s Word and that the teachers themselves were beginning to not share the message as effectively as they once did. The message was in danger of bypassing the very people who was originally to receive and share the good news.
The church today is blessed to have such an array of materials at our disposal to educate and reach people with the Good News of Christ. Like Israel of old, we are blessed with many opportunities to present the gospel message to those around us and to distribute God’s Word. May we take advantage of these opportunities and pass out material such as tracts, New Testament copies, Bible study lessons and then speak to those who have an interest in knowing more about the Lord Jesus Christ and His offer of salvation.
Despite the wringing of hands by some that the Church is not relevant or that the message is outdated and ineffective, it is still the Word of God and will change lives if we make it available. Many are saying that reading, writing and arithmetic is not as necessary today in classrooms and education but those who teach it know its importance. The same is true of the eternal Word of God. Thank you for being that faithful mentor, teacher, parent, and believer that proclaims the truths of God’s word to those who have not heard.
