January 5, 2022 - Genesis 8-11
Promises are important to people and the promises that are kept are often the things that make memories! Everyone anticipates a pledge being fulfilled and it defines a person as to their character and integrity.
God made a promise in chapters 8-9 as the waters recede and the earth becomes habitable again. Have you had a chance to gaze upon a rainbow lately and think about God's Word and His promises?
What could have been the cause for all the animals to fear man and yet man to not fear God? It did not take long for man to begin to sin and take the mercy and love of God for granted.
In chapter 11, it appears that man began to think only of himself and what he could accomplish. Notice how many times the words "they", "us" and "we" are used. It appears that this self-seeking attitude was evidence of their lack of trust in the Lord. In what ways are we dependent on family and not the Lord? Has this led you to not be obedient to what the Lord has asked you to do?
From total dependence on God to self-sufficiency, the people moved quickly away from the Lord's word and commands. How quickly do we today move away from the Lord's directions? Unlike the descendants of Noah, may we be slow to move away from the Lord and instead, be obedient to His commands!
